I ordered the taller socks and have a decent size calf. The socks slide down and pool at my ankles. There is nothing that would hold them in place. Normal shorter socks are cut to stay snug and stay in place. These tall ones are not. I will need to turn them inside out and sew a dart into them so they even stand a chance at staying in place.
